To build your own solar panel read this article.
In the future solar energy will be the main source our consumable energy. Solar energy is “green” meaning it leaves no negative impact on the environment not to mention it is likely to be around for a couple billion more years, or so the experts say. Additionally, the fact that it’s free, except for installation costs is another factor that will probably see many homeowners switching over to this form of energy source.
Many people think that building your own solar panels at home is difficult. You will have to have some “Do It Yourself” skills, to build your own solar panels. Some of the items that you will need to build your own solar panels are, solar cells, wood for the container and some plexiglass for the cover. Caulk should be used to attach the solar cells to the wooden container. Pre-tabbed solar cells will make the wiring easier. Make sure that you get solar panels with tabs, otherwise you will have to solder on tabs before you glue them in place.
The plexiglass is for protection of your cells. Glue is used to attach the cells to the box, and you will need to glue some wood strips inside the box. You should only use a dot of caulk in the center of the cell. Solar cells can be damaged if the wood shifts, that is why you need to use a dot of caulk. After the caulk has set, you will need to drill a hole in the box for the wires. Your solar panel is almost complete, just mount your plexiglass with screws.
Lots of people have reservations about the costs of solar panel systems, which is why they’ve not done anything yet. They feel that they may not save any money due to the costs of these systems. But you can cut the costs by simply making your very own solar panels. In fact, you can cut the cost down to about half and you can find most of what you need online, including solar cells which can be found on sites such as eBay. And in addition to this, if you do some research you may find that the area you live in provides tax incentives and special rebates for installing solar panels. This is simply because the government would like people to use energy sources that are clean, so they will give generous tax breaks to builders who create homes with solar panel systems. Your entire house, if you have enough solar panels, can actually be powered if positioned and used in the proper way. You can also heat your home using the electricity from the solar panels which can save you money every winter.
