Install Solar Panels to Cut Costs
There are multiple benefits of solar panels simply due to the fact that they make clean energy from the natural elements on our planet. Additionally, they’re a source of energy that will never run out, which is called a renewable energy source. So if you have been pondering over whether to install solar panels or not you should continue reading this article to find out more.
If you want to see how easy it is to build your own solar panels at home, read this article. You will have to have some “Do It Yourself” skills, to build your own solar panels. You can find solar cells online, and you will need wood to build a container and plexiglass for the cover. You will have to use caulk to attach your solar cells to your wooden container. When buying solar cells, try to find ones that already have tabs as it will make your life easier when you are doing the wiring. Otherwise you will have to solder on tabs before you glue them in place. An extra 12 V car battery, and some proper wiring, is necessary to hook up to your solar panels to store the energy. Storing electricity is just like recharging your batteries, except you are using a 12 V battery with a solar panel. Some institutions provide these batteries for free which is something you should look into if you are going to need a lot of them. This electricity needs to be converted, so you will need to have a power inverter to convert the energy to be used around your house. If you already have a modified sine wave or true sine wave power inverter, you can use this energy. However, the best one is the one that creates the exact same type of electricity that comes out of the wall socket and that is the true sine wave. Only a true sine wave inverter, not a modified sine wave device, will convert the energy properly, but at a higher price.
Another aspect of solar panels are the charge controllers that are in between the panel itself and the storage battery. To make sure your batteries do not explode, or receive the wrong level of voltage while charging, you need to have these devices hooked up. A charge controller will also ensure that no power flows out of the batteries and back into the solar panel, which would be a waste. They also prevent overcharging of your batteries which can happen if they are not used.
The tools will require some skill, but it is something that anyone can do. Using your home built solar panels you could be powering your entire home with sunlight.
