It’s Not Difficult to Install Solar Panels
The sun is by far the most powerful source of energy for our planet; did you know that in only an hour the earth can receive enough energy from the sun to meet our power needs for a whole year? Today, we’re learning more sophisticated ways to benefit from the sun; solar energy is often the cheapest way to provide energy for our homes. You can easily meet most of your energy needs by installing a solar panel system in your home.
It is not that difficult to build your own solar panels. Of course, you do need to have some DIY skills, in that you need to be handy with a soldering iron and to be able to handle a saw, but other than that you can have a solar panel ready in no time at all. To build your own solar panels you will need just a few basic items. You will need to use silicon caulk or wood glue of some type to attach the solar cells to the wooden container. Pre-tabbed solar cells will make the wiring easier. Before you glue your solar panels in place you will have to solder tab on, if you are unable to find panels that have the tabs on them. You need to be able to hook up your solar panel, once it is finished, to a 12 V battery to store the energy. Storing electricity is just like recharging your batteries, except you are using a 12 V battery with a solar panel. A large part of the cost of creating a solar solution for your electricity bill can be avoided by finding cheap or free batteries. This electricity needs to be converted, so you will need to have a power inverter to convert the energy to be used around your house. There are two types of power inverters available, namely true sine wave and modified sine wave. However, the best one is the one that creates the exact same type of electricity that comes out of the wall socket and that is the true sine wave. By spending a few extra dollars on the right inverter, you will be able to use your electricity in your home.
It is first necessary to realize that you will need a container in which to place your solar cells in order to create your own solar panels with the do it yourself method. Because it is easer to work with than many of the other options for container creation, wood is the most obvious and widely used material. For the back of the solar panel, plywood is a great choice although there are many other types of wood that are also acceptable. It is recommended that you have some wood inside the box to separate the cells and hold them upright as well as a covering of plexiglass over the top too. Since sunlight needs to get into each cell, plexiglass coverings are perfect ways to protect the cells from the elements and still allow full sun exposure to the cells. You will also need a whole in the bottom of the box that will allow you to pull the wires out of the box. It is then necessary to connect the cells to one another via soldering. You must place solar panels on top of your building or home so that they can receive sunlight and power your home at the same time. Likewise, solar panels can also be connected to the heating system and you can then heat your home with the help of solar power.
