Make Your Home Energy Efficient With Solar Panels
Solar energy is the future of energy as we know it. Many experts agree that there is no end in sight, at least not any time soon, for the sustainability of solar energy as a “green” energy source that won’t have a negative impact on our environment. Homeowner’s will consider this energy source seriously once they realize the cost of energy is reduced to zero after the initial installation and setup costs are incurred making it a viable source of heat and energy needs for an average household.
First of all, solar panels are receptacles for solar cells that you will use. In some scientific way, electricity is created by the solar cells from sunlight. The process itself involves photons hitting electrons in the silicone material on the solar cells, which become electricity. Only a half of a volt of power per cell is generated from sunlight necessitating the use of many solar panels to provide electricity. Solar panels can actually be made at home; many people make them in an attempt to reduce or eliminate their electrical bill. Whether you ask a family member for help, or if you are good at soldering wires, this is something you should really try to do. You need to be able to hook up your solar panel, once it is finished, to a 12 V battery to store the energy. No need to be fancy; just find an ordinary lead acid battery for this particular job. Some institutions provide these batteries for free which is something you should look into if you are going to need a lot of them. Storing electricity is only part of the process; you must convert this electricity into AC to be used at home or in your garage. This means you should get a true sine wave or modified energy converter. More than likely, you will want to use your appliances at home which requires purchasing a true sine wave inverter to convert electricity. Only a true sine wave inverter, not a modified sine wave device, will convert the energy properly, but at a higher price.
Batteries will need to be connected and you may want to solder a diode first. Charge your batteries using your solar panels. Sometime during the night you could be wasting power. On the other hand, if you are using a charge controller then this step is not necessary. Do it yourself skills are necessary as with any project but overall this is a simple task to tackle for many of us. If you are serious about saving money, this is a project easy enough for even the novice to complete once the materials are rounded up and the patience to succeed is wrangled into production.
