Don’t Think Building Your Own Solar Panel Is Too Difficult For You
In the future solar energy will be the main source our consumable energy. Solar energy is a source of energy that will be around for billions of years according to experts because it’s clean, causing no negative impact on the environment. Additionally, the fact that it’s free, except for installation costs is another factor that will probably see many homeowners switching over to this form of energy source.
It is not that difficult to build your own solar panels. You will have to have some “Do It Yourself” skills, to build your own solar panels. Some of the items that you will need to build your own solar panels are, solar cells, wood for the container and some plexiglass for the cover. You will need to use silicon caulk or wood glue of some type to attach the solar cells to the wooden container. For wiring made easy, try to find solar panels that already have the tabs on them. Make sure that you get solar panels with tabs, otherwise you will have to solder on tabs before you glue them in place. A solar panel is connected to batteries and most of them use the regular 12 volt batteries that are used in cars. Storing electricity is just like recharging your batteries, except you are using a 12 V battery with a solar panel. In fact, with a little research you can find these batteries very cheaply or even for free. Storing electricity is only part of the process; you must convert this electricity into AC to be used at home or in your garage. There are two types of power inverters available, namely true sine wave and modified sine wave. However, the best one is the one that creates the exact same type of electricity that comes out of the wall socket and that is the true sine wave. Of course, these models are more expensive than their modified counterparts, are well worth the cost.
If you are doing all of this yourself, it’s important to remember that a solar panel is essentially a set of solar cells grouped within a container, which you will need to create for your solar panels. Because wood is often easier to work with it is often the material of choice when building solar panels. For the back of the solar panel, plywood is a great choice although there are many other types of wood that are also acceptable. Cover the container with plexiglass, you may also want to put a bit of wood inside the box to hold the cells in place. That plexiglass cover will allow sunlight to be absorbed by the cells while remaining protected from the elements. You’ll need to have a hole in the box that will make it possible for you to get the wires pulled outside the box too. Use solder to connect the individual cells to one another after mounting is complete. Many people use solar panels to power their cabins, homes, and businesses which can save them thousands in electric bills. The cost of heating your home will dramatically reduce, especially if you use your solar panels to power your heating system.
