To build your own solar panel read this article.
The future of solar energy is certain to be long and adventurous. Many experts agree that there is no end in sight, at least not any time soon, for the sustainability of solar energy as a “green” energy source that won’t have a negative impact on our environment. Homeowner’s will consider this energy source seriously once they realize the cost of energy is reduced to zero after the initial installation and setup costs are incurred making it a viable source of heat and energy needs for an average household.
Many people think that building your own solar panels at home is difficult. If you know how to use a soldering iron and are handy with a saw you can build your own solar panels in no time. Some of the items that you will need to build your own solar panels are, solar cells, wood for the container and some plexiglass for the cover. To attach your solar cells to the wooden container you can use caulk. Pre-tabbed solar cells will make the wiring easier. If you can not find solar panels with tabs you will have to solder on the tabs before you glue them in place.
Before you install any solar panels, you should do some research, as the kind you get should be based on how much sunlight your area gets. The two main varieties of solar panels are concentrating and non-concentrating solar collectors; the best kind for you depends on where you live.
If you receive lots of sunlight most of the year, you should get a solar panel that can efficiently absorb direct sunlight, which would be a concentrating solar collector. Non-concentrating solar collectors, on the other hand, don’t require as much direct sunlight to absorb energy, so this is a better choice if you live in a less sunny region. You can always consult with an expert if you don’t know which type of solar panel would be appropriate for you.
Another aspect of solar panels are the charge controllers that are in between the panel itself and the storage battery. These devices will prevent overcharging the batteries and ensuring the voltage levels are correct. Proper flow of your electricity from the solar panel to the battery, but not vice versa, is handled by these components. To prevent damaging any or all of your batteries over time, using these controllers is very important. You will indeed need to have some do it yourself know how to complete this task but it’s not nearly as difficult as most people thought. It’s really no harder than knowing what materials you’ll need, obtaining them before you begin and having the patience to complete the task.
